It's true that there are lots of influences in our kids lives. They want not only answers that make sense but also feels right. Technically, the Christians should win hands down in any contest with the atheists because we have better answers and a living God. Something is definitely wrong if people find the answers of another religion - or an atheist! - better than ours. I remember a radio interview after the tsunami where the host asked a Buddhist, a Muslim and a Christian why it happened. I was thinking if I weren't a committed Christian, I'd be a Buddhist. The other guys didn't make logical or emotional sense!

BTW, the Holy Spirit can overcome any situation. All around the world, Muslims, atheists, communists, villains etc are coming to Christ. Think of all He overcame in Paul's case. Here is a Pharisee among the Pharisees; a well taught and bright and ambitious young man; a man who revered Mosaic Law and despised the Gentiles; a man who really believed God is One and that it is sin to speak His name or portray Him; and a man who believed the Messiah is for the Jews.

The barrier to understanding is not education but whether the person is informed by the Holy Spirit or not while reading. Education, experience, intelligence etc. increases understanding as the Holy Spirit can reveal more. The more a person has, more will be given. We all start with milk but we hopefully don't stay there or churn our milk into cheese and pretend we're eating meat.

All our great theologians were/are extremely intelligent: Luther, Calvin, Packer, Stott, Grudem. Intelligence and wisdom are 2 different things but a Christian can ask for wisdom and he can be gifted with wisdom by the Spirit. An intelligent Christian with wisdom can be taught and such a person would be used mightily by the Spirit. Paul is an example of such a person.

Paul did not have atheists for professors.  Our children, including the intelligent, are being deceived.
