You don't understand??????????

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

But we need to understand before we apply. Jesus taught that if your eye causes you to sin, you should gouge it out and if your hand causes you to sin, you should cut it off. We know from other scriptures that the source of our sin is elsewhere. Origen and other believers had themselves castrated. They would say Jesus' teaching is literal and should be taken so and that their action has made them better and more effective Christians. How could we answer them? Part of me agree that they are right. Castration eliminates a whole whack of distractions from the thought life of a man. Part of me knows that's now how that teaching is suppose to be applied in our lives.
