Debbie, I’m appreciating your
comments this morning. Being in the world but not of it is sometimes
challenging. How much do we want to partake of it w/o being overtaken by it?
My two sons are grown. My step-children, not here with us often enough, live
with their biological mother and stepfather in another state and are being
raised in a faith and situation which we do not approve of. That is painful,
but we pour Jesus and His Word into them whenever they are with us, and they
are very receptive by God’s grace. We have a wonderful relationship with
them. The grandchildren, ages 6 and under, are
being homeschooled. They do not have cable TV or worldly media in their
home. They watch Christian videos or G rated secular movies and listen to
Christian music only. Their friends are all church or homeschool related, with
parents who are familiar with the family. They are wonderful, smart children
with rich lives in spite of what the naysayers would think. The 6 year old
reads the Bible better than our teenaged public-school taught children. She is
playing piano and taking ballet lessons. (My son taught himself to play piano
after graduating from the AF Academy, and he is teaching her.) I am thankful
they will not have to deal with the stresses of government schools, or even
private Christian schools, full of demonized children. My sons hated the
stresses of public schools, but their father wouldn’t allow them any
other option. Oral sex on the school bus is the norm now. Not something I
want my sweet grandchildren to be exposed to, among other things. Izzy From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

movies, TV shows, books, etc. out there offer as good a critique of our culture
as any delivered by a Christian who set out to do so. If not better. BTW, who else on TT is actively
raising children at this stage of their lives? David, I know. Anybody else? If
any of you have mentioned your pre-adult children, I'm sorry I've
forgotten! Debbie |
