Can you produce scripture showing, when he supposedly went over the line?
Can you produce scripture of God's displeasure with such?
I use the WORD CONTENTIOUS. Did you know paul was Contentious not just disagreeable?
You say ( I Cor 1).
It is in there somewhere ?????????

If you use the word to mean simply "disagree," certainly I am aware of it. If you use the word to mean an emotionally based objecting that insults and disgraces those who listen, no I am not. I believe Paul was an emotional man. He could go over the line. But when it came down to where the rubber met the road, he was both appealing and reasonable to the other side. His conduct in Athens with those "unbelievers" is a case in point. His willingness to offer sacrifice (Acts 21:15ff) is another example of just what Paul's teaching was concerning the brand of contentiousness that "divides and conquers."Romans 14 is yet another rather involved statement concerning tolerance. He objects to the contentious divisions taht existed in Corinth ( I Cor 1).JD

By the way did you know that Paul was VERY CONTENTIOUS?I did not say Contending but CONTENTIOUS.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Not exactly right. Here is a list of those contributing to the blatant contentiousness found on this forum: Me, Deegan, Judy and Linda Shields. Miller contributes in a negative way but his contribution is not as much a contrast as in those who are mentioned above. Terry, Lance, Marlin, Blaine, David H and whoever.I represent (so to speak) the left and am the only one from that side of the tracks willing to fight in the same frame as Dee,Ju and Lin. That has come to a screeching (pardon the pun) halt. I can be critical without being contentious. When I first came to this forum, I was just that. But I allowed the situation to change me. And, in fact, that change spilled over into my everyday life. I have been the typical grumpy old man for several months up to now.Don't even bother retaliating with the usual "We shall see" and so on .... the only ones who will fashion a retaliation to this are D, J and L. Please do not bother. The letter of I John is more about the need for brotherly love than any other single issue. The world objects to the contentiousness found in so many who believe themselves to be right. My change is not due to DaveH's comments -- but they would have worked had they been stated earlier. A member of this very list asked me a very simple question privately and that was enough for me.I am actually known for being a patient guy, always smiling, seldom ruffled. No so the last very months.Anyway -------------- the gang of four has been reduced by one.JD

It has nothing to do with 'insecurity' DaveH; Kevin is being obedient to the Word of God to our generation. In Jude we are told to contend for the faith "once" delivered to the saints. Note that it was not "half delivered"with the other half coming later by way of JS. jt
Dave Hansen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:DAVEH: Why do you feel so insecure that you need to contend for your faith, Kevin?
Kevin Deegan wrote:It is called earnestly "Contending for the faith ONCE delivered to the saints" in the scriptures.Of course you would like us to shut up that makes your job of propagating error much easier!

When I came to TT, I had expected it would be more of a round table
discussion type setting for those of many beliefs and religious
perspectives. However, I can now see why my illusions were incorrect.
Some of the participants view TT as being a battlefield where the goal
is to vanquish Mormonism or any other theological premises that contrast
those who feel uncomfortable with those they believe are under Satan's
influence. So Perry, I hope you understand why I don't have meaningful
discussions with you anymore. If you feel you are making headway
Perry, good for you. Just keep thinking that way. I find it somewhat
interesting when some people arrogantly think they understa nd something
and are so smug in their assumptions that they overlook simple truths.
I just don't believe such self deceptions are coming from the Spirit of
the Lord.
