What about Paul in Athens JD? He spoke about their monument to "the unknown god" and then explained to them that they could know the "unknown God". Waving these idolatrous objects around may be a little different - but not all that much and it is especially bold considering they are in Mormon territory and in the vicinity of the Mormon temple.
Do you think Paul was being insensitive to the Athenians also?
