My father always reminded me that Paul's sermon in Athens is one of the most talked about sermons in seminaries, yet it was one of the most unsuccessful sermons in the Bible. Insulting the present culture is a method of drawing a crowd. Read Matthew 23 sometime to see Jesus in action using the "insult the culture" method.
