Judy, I see no similarity between Paul's actions and the undies incident. Paul's preaching was convincing, winning some of those in Athens to Christ. When was the last time you saw a preacher draw a crowd of interested listener by insulting their culture? In sharing the gospel to the world, Paul became all things to all men so that by all means, he might save some. deegan does not accept this as the tactic of choice in today's evangelical economy.

What about Paul in Athens JD? He spoke about their monument to "the unknown god" and then explained to them that they could know the "unknown God". Waving these idolatrous objects around may be a little different - but not all that much and it is especially bold considering they are in Mormon territory and in the vicinity of the Mormon temple.
Do you think Paul was being insensitive to the Athenians also?
