Well, if you want to talk about that , just say so!! I had a reason for quoting 3:14 you know.
I understand that the first chapter of I John is the contextual springboard for what is presented in the remainder of the letter. I personally believe that you have few exegetical rules that allow a understanding of what John is saying in this book. You will not agree, of course. Our difference have as much to do with our individual hermeneutic as any other single factor -- would you agree with that?
