Yes, but Jesus is so much more than the general, the parent, the master, or even the groom.  We love Him because He first loved us while we were hopelessly helpless against sin, because His suffering and Blood defeated our enemy and purchased our deliverance, and His Spirit now indwells and empowers us to walk with Him in His Kingdom of light.  PTL! izzy

Very well put, Iz.  The only thing that I might add is that the loving bride obeys the groom, the loving child obeys the parent, the slave obeys the master, the private obeys the general.  It is normal, not forced.  It is a natural reaction, at least for me and those that are close to me.
Over time, I have learned to love my Lord more than I love my  dearest friend, or my children, or my wife, or myself.  I cannot explain it.  I was not forced or threarened.  As I grew in Christ, it just happened.  I obey because He wants obedience, and I want what He wants.  Lost people cannot understand that.  No point of trying to explain it, but as I grow in Christ it is more evident and needs no explabation.  Once I was blind, but now I can see.
Praise God.
Terry
