Are you stating that the law mentioned are not
removed but more in a static state for the church?

Very good, Dean. I don't remember exactly making this point recently, but yes, this is one way to look at it. The law is not removed, but in regards to those in the church obtaining righteousness, the law is kind of static, sitting by the sidelines. It is of no use to obtaining righteousness. However, if a person is outside the church, and he transgresses the law and commits sin, the law is anything but static. The person experiences the kind of condemnation described in Romans 7.

I can also agree with the dietary but not as a law
for the church as Peter was told to slay and eat in
the vision-but the Spirit has been promoting my diet
to kosher-but if there are only non-kosher food
available I eat giving thanks to God . How would
you answer this statement David?

Approaching the law as addressing diet is a carnal way of examining the law. For example, when the law speaks about not eating swine, it is speaking about a spiritual issue of not associating with those who are like swine. We can focus on the carnal (physical) aspect or the spiritual aspect.

In you statement :"The material obedience to these commandments
are only shadows of a greater reality". Could you explain more.
I understand the shadow aspect-but lack insite of what you mean
by "material obedience'?

When I speak of "material obedience," I am referring the carnal aspect of obeying it in an earthly, physical way rather than a spiritual way. For example, not eating bacon might be a material observance, or keeping the seventh day as a day of rest. These are shadows of a greater spiritual meaning that the law really addresses if we are spiritual enough to appreciate it.

Yes, sacrifices continue but are these blood
sacrifices as opposed to giving of self?

The Torah speaks of more several kinds of offerings. A blood sacrifice is realized in the person of Jesus Christ.

Peace be with you.
