For sure several businesses will need the return of empties.

Indeed the return of empties may be linked in Germany to special accounts. The
idea to just handle every negative line as a return seems to me to general,
there could be other cases needing a different handling.
I think you should go at least with a special line type, perhaps even linked to
a special model. And it should be extensible like product (there could be
composed empties like a beer crates and bottles, that need very individual
handling).
