Yes they are, and yes it will. But if you are planning on using virtualization, AMD is a better choice. I would recommend HP DL385 for smaller virtualization needs (max out RAM!!!). Please note that if you install a 64-bit host-OS you need a processor with VT-instructions to be able to run 32-bits guests with any reasonable performance, or so I have read. Any 64-bit procesor will run just fine with a 32-bit OS. I just installed RedHat on a Xeon the other day, and will run VMWare on it next week (wanted AMD, but supplier was out of stock and I'm in a hurry...). > Will this mainboard be a good choice: > http://www.intel.com/design/servers/boards/se7520bd2/index.htm > and what Xeon processors to use? > > Any suggestions or hardware recommodations are welcome. Go with a vendor, like Morten says. Better parts, easier to get hold of parts, better case design and with option of extra service contracts (maybe you don't need them, but if you leave your job one day...). Linux support is good too. Stock installs of TSL, RedHat and Ubuntu on IBM, Dell and HP has worked flawlessly for me. > Thanks, > > Ariën Huisken > > > _______________________________________________ > tsl-discuss mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.trustix.org/mailman/listinfo/tsl-discuss
