Well, the big vendors have some advantages when it comes to service. If you need a replacement mainboard for your system for example, you can get it - fast - in advance - maybe with a guy who replaces it for you (usefull for remote locations) - and you get the RIGHT part. Try to get a normal server mainboard 2 or 3 years after you bought the original one...
