I started the Regexp project based on a code contribution from a brilliant engineer @ Sun (via introduction by James Davidson) as the first BSD style regexp package ever released. There was plenty GPL/LGPL, but nothing BSD/Apache. After that, Daniel came along and said he would donate his more complete and better developed ORO code to Apache because he realized that his code would become totally obsolete if Regexp ever took off. The two projects remained separate because Regexp was better suited to things like applets and small regexp needs and ORO has always seemed like the 'big monster perl regexp implementation'...note that that is not really the case, it is just perception I'm talking about. The two projects have agreed to eventually merge, but it is low priority and no one has really stepped up to the plate to make it happen. Again, this is a 100% volunteer organization. -jon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
