Tony,

I have only experienced the type of problems you describe when dealing with
content pasted from a Microsoft product, the most likely candidate being
Word.  Is this where the problem content is originating from?

Also, what version of the mysql JDBC driver are you using?  If it is not a
recent version then it may be worth a shot to upgrade.

A search of the mail list archives should reveal the property that logs the
SQL statements (although I seem to recall that not all operations are
logged).
