Scott,
You were right although I don't quite understand what's going on here.

I copied that text from an Internet Explorer browser, pasted it into my HTML
form. The text looks fine when previewed from Java but once its inserted
into MySql its all funky.

I was skeptical so I hand typed the exact same text. This time it looks
correct after inserting in the db.

Then I tried another test. I copied the same text from a Netscape browser
and used Netscape to perform another insert. The text remains correct after
insert to the db.

So you're assumptions about a Microsoft product seem to be correct.
Hopefully I'll find a workaround.

Thanks!

Tony

Tony,

I have only experienced the type of problems you describe when dealing with
content pasted from a Microsoft product, the most likely candidate being
Word. Is this where the problem content is originating from?

Also, what version of the mysql JDBC driver are you using? If it is not a
recent version then it may be worth a shot to upgrade.

A search of the mail list archives should reveal the property that logs the
SQL statements (although I seem to recall that not all operations are
logged).

HTH,

Scott
