This is a funny argument because the extra features don't complicate things
at all. You only need to use what you want to use and when you end up
needing the extra features, then there they are for you...
One thing that you are realizing is that by going your own route, you are
loosing the ability to have a supported community developed piece of code.
There is much more to using Turbine than just writing your own software.

Pick another character then. It is easy to write your own class in Turbine
to do so. Much easier than writing it yourself from scratch.
