the new RunData getters were added by me (John McNally).  Something I
started a while back but had never committed.  Just saw it there when I was
committing some other changes and thought I should put it in before someone
else does it.  don't have time to do setters now.  I believe some of these
attributes are set in init() and should not be changed, so not all require
setters.
