So overall +1.  However I think that between Turbine/Jakarta/Cocoon we
need to decide on this.  And perhaps put it within a 3rd CVS (avalon?). 
Jakarta is (or going to be) using the IBM log4j.  We need to agree on a
standard logger and put it within org.apache.java and share the same
code.  We are approaching this with Ant but need to take it to the next
level.

Avalon is taking longer than I expected.  Specifically because it is a
lot of work and is revolutionary which is hard in the OSS world.
