Would this include the data on the backup tapes?  Seems to me that if your web
application can stand losing a day's worth of data, then MySQL + nightly backups
would be fine.  (Be sure to test restores once in a while, though.)

I'm not arguing for or against MySQL (not knowledgeable enough), but your
assertion seems farfetched.
