Hi,
A few people have been asking to help with Torque and I
believe I now have something that at least can be worked
with.
The new version of Torque works with Velocity's Texen
generating tool. The OM and the SQL generation are governed
by a control template, and a control context. The whole
thing is a glorified Ant task that can be subclassed to
perform a certain text generating tasks. Torque is now
a subclass of the Texen Ant task in Velocity.
Anyway, I would like to check everything in today
some time, I was thinking of moving Torque to the
org.apache.turbine.torque package and blow all the
old stuff away. I've made quite a mess, most of the
old directories now present are irrelevent as the
generating task has mostly been off loaded to Velocity.
So I would like to get rid of org.apache.turbine.tools.torque
package and replace it with org.apache.turbine.torque.
It should now be much easier to adapt the SQL to
any target database. Once everything is checked in
I think Mike and Carl will have an easier time trying
to get Postgres and Sybase working. The SQL being
generated now looks almost as good as the old stuff.
The exact formatting Velocity allows helps a lot.
Wherever we decide to put it, Torque is ready to
be checked in and played with. Fedor you will now
be finally happy as I have dumped all the old Torque
code :-) There is now one tool, a merger of all the
tools and ideas we've had floating around for a while.
jvz.
