Yeah, I realised that it was all Ian Bicking, I was trying to be
polite :-)

Formencode and SQLObject are both very simple and elegant ideas, but the
implementations seem to be overly complicated and in the case of
SQLObject's support for MySQL somewhat buggy.  I get the impression he's
a very smart man who comes up with good ideas which are never quite
perfected.
