Yes I know this is the problem you encountered, but I since then uploaded a pre compiled version of Cheetah for Linux so people using TG on Linux do not have to even have gcc or any development tools or headers installed. > When I installed the correct headers Cheetah installed OK - this is > documented in the Ubuntu specifics, but because I thought I knew what > I needed to do as I had installed successfully on other platforms I > did not think to look at the Ubuntu-specific information, which is > very clear - a case of RTFM! Humm... this is not so much your fault as ours in this case... We should not require our users to install the things we do in this Ubuntu specific page. We provide this page to help people who want to develop and maybe become TG developpers and thus will require ability to compile our requirements by themselves. But for normal users who just want to create a web site we target a 100% install without need of gcc or any compilation. > > I will be doing a clean install in a while, so I will test it again > then. Cool! Let us know if everything works this time (without gcc nor headers installed). > Sorry for wasting your time - perhaps it will help other hasty > installers too however ;-) You're not wasting it, you actually helped us improve the quality of our packaging a bit :) That nice. Thanks for your time and effort.
