Mostly the only thing I use in the toolbox is Catwalk. Deciding that Catwalk was a good beginner's admin interface was easy, since TG 1 made it the default & made it available. But for the TG 2 beginner, having to choose, import/instantiate, and debug a beginner's admin interface may be hard, especially the choosing.
I also found the web-based console necessary for working around bugs in Catwalk, but that's not a good argument for a toolbox! : ) The widget browser was essential documentation for me.
