Actually, the docs disagree. According to http://docs.turbogears.org/1.0/Install - "Python 2.5.x is supported from TurboGears version 1.0.2 onwards and Python 2.6.x from 1.0.9 and later." Which is nice, if true. I'll give it a try soon!
