The problem is not that you need to patch TurboGears, but RuleDispatch. There is no official version of RuleDispatch for Python 2.6.
Or, well, I need to correct me after looking at http://peak.telecommunity.com/snapshots/ - it seems St Nicholas has just made us a small present and there is now a brand new version of RuleDispatch that will hopefully run with Python 2.6. Will see if I can compile it on Win this evening and upload the eggs to our TG 1.0 index.
Anyway, we really recommend using TG 1.1 instead of TG 1.0, as it has been much improved while still being very compatible to TG 1.0.
