I've started doing one of these now. One thing is should the READMEs say how to run the sample's from the cmd line with "java -cp..."? We distribute the sample jar's with the binary distro to make it really easy to run the samples without having to do any building at all with Ant or mvn, but there's not so much point to that if we don't document it.
