When signed in to JIRA and looking at a list of JIRAs in the issue navigator
at the top right you should see a link named "Bulk Change", click on that
you can select JIRAs to modify, and when doing so at the bottom of on one
the panels there's a tick box for " Send mail for this update " that you can
untick. Obviously you need to be a bit discriminating about what sort of
updates use that with :)
