Having spoken against that practice during the Olympics I can not
support it as a solution here. I agree that it was a good idea this
morning, which was a good fix for an emergency, but I don't think it
is a good practice on a regular basis.

But  I don't see the problem here. Madden is getting old, he does not
want to travel as much as he used to. NBC thinks he is valuable enough
to have for as many games as he is available. I wouldn't mind if they
just went to an every other week with Madden schedule and gave him 2
weeks to get to his next gig, and have Collingsworth do the other
weeks. If they finding that a less than 100% Madden is worse than no
Madden at all, then they can get rid of Madden and get someone who is
young enough or mentally healthy enough to get to all the games.
