I didn't see the Rosie show either but watched Ellen's and also thought it was
the better way to put together a contemporary variety show. No famous names
just unusual - and impressive - acts. (And yes, I too fast forwarded through
the kid
singing Proud Mary.)

But I don't think Ellen was responsible for much more than hosting and
her pre-taped visit to the impersonators show. A couple of times she said she
had
not even seen the acts before. Most likely the credit goes to the producers. I
saw
a familiar name from Letterman's old crew (producer Mary Connelly) in the
credits
and think she and the other producers deserve as much or more of the credit for
the show's success.

Rosie announced the first "Rosie Live!" would be the last on her blog.

"there will b no more" and "no ratings/bad reviews/yet still—a thrill 4 me."

On the other hand, did anybody catch Ellen DeGeneres's variety special on TBS
last night? I didn't watch Rosie's, so I can't compare and contrast, but I can
testify that Ellen put together a terrifically entertaining show. (Okay, I have
no tolerance for small children singing inappropriately, but that's what the
fast-forward button is for.)
