And as much as the Scope Kiss Cam is shameless huckstering on ABC's part, the FOX show was a hideous infomercial for David Cook, Hotel X, and Criss Angel. Yes, the West Coast pretapes are always ads for the associated singers (was there the usual lame oldies act this year? Village People, Doobie Brothers? I think I tuned out and went back to my .... ah but that would ruin the trivia question to name the DVDs). All the musical acts on ABC/NBC/FOX and CNN are negotiated ads. I'd mock the deepness of Seacrest's voice, but the same was true of Anderson Cooper in 19 degree weather. And while this might have been what caused the Jonas Brothers to be outta tune ... they totally suck Cartman's balls anyway (2nd year in a row.)
