Granite-owned Syracuse CBS affil WTVH, the city's oldest station, has
shut down its news department and put 40 employees on the street, as
it melds its operations with that of Barrington-owned NBC affil WSTM
(Barrington also owns CW affil WSTQ):

But wait, there's more--in Peoria, Barrington's ABC affil WHOI's news
shop is closed down as Granite's NBC affil WEEK takes over operations
of the station (and the ad partner for Peoria/Bloomington's cable CW
channel):

I'd never thought I'd see a CBS affiliate's news department shut
down. Remember when local news was a profit center?
