That is, he reminded me of Bill Maher whenever Bill Maher forgets he's a comedian and wastes time being preachy and pedantic. It wasn't that the president was unamusing, but, as he did at the Al Smith dinner, he killed the buzz with a sober and laughless conclusion, which is not in keeping with the standards of the event.
