Wrecks - a valid point. But remember that Atlantis had the benefit of Weir & McKay being established on "SG-1", and this was feasible because "SG-1" was earth-based. You couldn't really use "Atlantis" to introduce "SGU" characters because unless they were part of the expedition, there's be no good reason for them to be on the Atlantis base. And it stands to reason that research into the Stargate & Ancient tech went on at the SGC and Area 51 while we were focused on our friends in Pegasus.
