Here is one of the quotes I have been referring to as suggesting that
the affiliates were contemplating some kind of action if Leno's
ratings did not improve after November
(http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/366935-NBC_Affiliates_Standing_by_Jay_Leno_Show_.php):

"NBC affiliates board chairman Michael Fiorile, sounding weary of
addressing the Leno effect, says the affiliate group is not panicking.
"It's early," he says. "We'll look at it when November's over. If it
improves the way we hope it will, we're in it for the long haul. If
not, we'll take a look."

Reading this whole article again I think I begin to understand
something that has been puzzling me, which is why would Fiorile say he
would make an evaluation after November, when the JLS is designed to
have its main advantage in rerun heavy months like December, now a
sweeps month like November.

What I see now is that, outside of the top 24 markets, most affiliates
have to wait until after the November seeps to get objective,
systematic data about their ratings. This suggests to me that the
quote above does not mean so much they will base their decision on how
Leno did in November (which is what I have been assuming) but rather
that once they get their sweeps book in they will see how they have
been doing with Leno all quarter.

I wonder if anyone knows when these November sweeps ratings come out?
Tuesday is December 1.
