I will be interested to see how Leno's numbers do in reruns.

It looks like there will be relatively few Leno reruns at all - so far I
have only been able to find early intentions of "46-48" weeks of original
episodes. That means he will be off the air 4-6 weeks this year, and
apparently two of those weeks will be for the Olympics, leaving only 2-4
weeks for NBC to find Leno replacements. I still have not found if the plan
is for Leno repeats during these weeks, or other programming. The danger of
other programming of course is that it might do as well or better than first
run Leno; the danger of Leno repeats is that they might do so poorly that
even NBC-conomics can't rationalize them. I suspect that they would be able
to cobble together 1 or 2 weeks of Leno with his biggest guests to maybe
limp through. If his Christmas re-run holds a decent percentage of his usual
Friday audience (appropriately corrected for lower total viewership) then
they might be more willing to try this. I think they will be better off
trying specials and other programming, with an eye of course towards finding
a show they could use to cut Leno down to 3 or 4 nights per week next season
(maybe some kind of adult game or competition show that started on Monday
and ended on Friday - perhaps involving a pool of mature women and young
men).
