Yeah we did, and my heart goes out to Ashley's mom, dad, and little brother. My heart goes out to her friends and classmates. I did not know her well, but Ashley had a tremendous amount of joy which she loved to share. She sang, she danced, and she made me chuckle a few times. Our little school and church will literally not be big enough to house Ashley's memorial service. She was loved by many, and she went before her time. I pray for Ashley and her family. And I also pray for the idiot who ignored the warnings on the prescription bottle(s), drove his car while high as a paper kite, and brought about the passing of a nine-year-old girl; that man's life will never be the same. Today I faced a lot of questions from a lot of young faces, and I had few answers for them. And though we did our best to prepare them, it can never feel like enough. I hope the parents of my students can step up and do their duty -- to be more than a friend to their children, but to be counselors and advisors. Our entire school is experiencing PTSD, and it is going to be a hard road to get to the other side of this. Thanks for letting me vent. We now return you to your regularly scheduled TV-related silliness, already in progress.
