A few years back, I signed up for Google Video as opposed to YouTube when I decided to upload a few videos. I did this for a few reasons. First, I found the resolution to be marginally better on Google Video. Second, videos could be longer than 10 minutes on Google Video. As of last week, Google Video no longer allows for uploads, since they are wanting to focus solely on their video search engine.
I have experimented with UStream and Stickam both as a content provider and as a viewer, and while I'm generally impressed with their ability to stream live, I am underwhelmed by the quality of uploaded videos. Now I'm faced with needing a place to upload videos that I plan to create, as well as a place to upload videos created by students that I teach (I anticipate having five cartoons and one video featuring puppets completed by students in the next few weeks). Does anyone know if YouTube will grant schools the ability to post videos greater in length than 10 minutes? Overall, I think YouTube's resolution has improved, but the inability to post long-form productions makes me apprehensive. Or, does anyone know a different video upload site? I could theoretically save stuff in my DropBox folder and create a blog with links to the videos, but I'd prefer a less roundabout method. If anyone has any advice in this arena, I am all ears. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
