Not sure what you mean by "very uncooperative." When I went to Ferguson's show, the audience was told that Ferguson had the smallest studio audience of any late nite talk show, about 100. So, I doubt much would be saved by eliminating any paid audience members.
BTW, I used to encounter people who worked for a company called "Temps on Time." I think they were paid by the hour. The one time I went to Ferguson, I don't think there were any paid audience members. My funniest experience being among paid audience members was at the taping of that Louis C.K. HBO sitcom. Turned out I was the only not-paid audience member. I sat next to a retired UCLA cafeteria manager. But most of the audience members were not senior citizens. In fact, just the opposite. I thought they really looked out of place at the taping of a show starring a middle aged white comedian. I found out that they were part of a group. Yep--TV shows these days do it all the time, especially new series or middle-of-the-pack sitcoms or talk shows (or any show that takes audience shots). I'm presuming that the C-Ferg audience is not the kind that would want to take trips to LA for any reason, hence the problem with filling the seats. Seems to me that Melissa has run into these paid audience members in her annual LA trips and that a lot of them are very uncooperative. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
