True - but I think the difference is that ESPN is in the sports
business full time. Anytime a local newscast shows Olympic footage
from ESPN, they are not just giving free advertising for the Olympic
coverage, they are giving advertising for ESPN itself. People who
follow the Olympics but not ESPN in general might be more likely to
start watching ESPN a little more. I think ESPN will have an incentive
to let people use their footage.
