Bob Costas once commented that producer Dick Ebersol wanted a more
casual setting on "Later", so Bob ended up wearing sweaters in the
beginning.
I think "Later" evolved to Bob matching his guest. Such as wearing a
suit when interviewing Mario Cuomo, and casual if interviewing Richard
Lewis.
