A major "Huzzah!" for "The Eleventh Hour," which may be the least of
Moffat's scripts for the post-2005 "Doctor Who" series (three of which
won Hugo Awards), but was, as I hoped, a cut above the series'
previous average and a complete pleasure to watch - and bodes well for
his tenure as show runner/head writer. Casting-wise, he picked a
couple of winners in the madcap Matt Smith as the resurrected Doctor
and Karen Gillan as the scrumptious and canny (but emotionally
vulnerable) new companion Amy Pond. And there was a genuine warmth,
whimsy and underlying creepiness to their first adventure that bodes
well for the next 12 eps when they really get their TARDIS legs.

And, for the record, I am among those who enjoyed "Torchwood," despite
its flaws - and was mightily impressed with the "Children of Earth"
mini, which was that series' finest hour (or five).
