Ah, I see I pretty much agree with AB.

Kevin, AB's point is not about going from broadcast to cable, but about the
benefits of lowered expectations, which (as I noted in a different thread)
is what Conan will have at TBS that he would not have had at Fox.

AB says TDS gets 1.7M and Colbet 1M, so I guess that means Comedy Central
averges about 1.4M for the 60 minute slot. Lopez was getting 1M in that slot
at TBS. AB says Conan was getting 2.5 (I think it was more like 2.7 or 2.8)
at the Tonight Show. If Coco gets 1.5M or more at Comedy Central he will be
a "winner" - AB seems to think he will improve on this Tonight Show numbers
but I think that is very unlikely.

I think Conan will benefit from TBS MLB playoff promotion, if Coco's people
can have some input into the campaign and not annoy the hell out of the
audience. I have been driven away from every show TBS has ever promoted
during baseball because of how obnoxious they are.

One thing I have not seen yet - Lopez is in LA (I think, I have never seen
it), that suggests that Conan will not be in LA. I suppose he could do it
out of Atlanta to really change things up (or Boston?) but opens the
possibility that he will return to NYC, which I think would be very wise.
The weakest component of Conan's Tonight Show to me (aside from the studio
space that never seemed to fit) was how out of place Conan seemed in
Southern California. OTOH, NYC would put him even more directly in
competition with TDS and CR for celebrity guest sloppy seconds (and thirds
and fourths) from Dave and Regis the Today Show. If he stayed in LA he might
be able to get the celebrity jump on the Comedy Central shows, which may
have some advantage.
