The one thing this does is keep Conan on the air and in peoples' minds when the next network slot opens up. Conan's going to have to deal with a vastly reduced budget, staff, and crew for the TBS show, as well as a more difficult time recruiting top line guests. It is a massive step down with the alternatives being in constant conflict with Fox for affiliate clearances and more budget money, or being an ex-talk show host. If Conan's successful on TBS, Fox can give its affiliates heads up that they are going to bring him to the network, allowing them to clear 11 o'clock. Or another network could try to bring him in for their 11:35 slot. Just because Conan decided to go to basic cable doesn't mean he's there for good. Tom -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
