Sidebar: Actor Peter Capaldi, so phenomenal as the government
fuctionary whose life is overturned by the struggle between humanity
and the alien invaders in "Torchwood: COE," just won a BAFTA for best
actor in a comedy program, honoring his run in "The Thick of It" as (I
believe) the same hilarious, invective-spewing advisor to the Prime
Minister that he played in the brutally-funny satirical feature film
"In the Loop." Spoiler alert: It is quite likely that his "Torchwood"
character will not resurface in the new series.
