I wasn't aware Conkhite had the title. I don't know the extent of Cronkhite's reach. At a newspaper, the managing editor is typically the No. 2 position and as such directs EVERYTHING in the newsroom. News, sports, business, features. I can't see Couric giving direction to the news magazines, the overnight news, the morning show, etc. As an anchor, she might be the equivalent of a Page 1 editor. But maybe I'm trying to stretch the analogy between newspapers and TV too far.
