You've set up two days of 12-hour drives (at least), going from Marquette to Bismarck, and then to East Glacier Park. On the Marquette-Bismarck day, you won't hit an Interstate until just before Fargo. I did most of the same drive you're looking at 14 years ago, and the drive from Ashland, WI to Fargo took most of the day. Had I continued (rather than stopping in Fargo), I probably could have hit Bismarck comfortably. To be honest, unless you're planning to drive all night, I'm not sure how much time you'll have to stop at things. >From what I recall, there's not a whole lot along the route. You can always check Roadside America, to see what they say. I did stop at Da Yoopers Tourist Trap in Ishpeming, MI, and it was fun. In Minnesota, there is the Twine Ball in Darwin, but that is south of I-94, and so probably too far off your route. I seem to recall there being a Paul Bunyan statue in Brainerd, should you decide to go by MN-218 and US 10 between Duluth and Fargo. There is definitely one in Bemidji, but that is a little bit north, on US 2. There not a lot, that I recall, in North Dakota. The world's largest TV mast (the KVLY-TV mast) is located north of Fargo, just off I-29 between Fargo and Grand Forks. There is also the Lawrence Welk birthplace, which is quite a bit south of Bismarck off US-83.
