As a huge NFL fan, and a fan of a western team (Denver Broncos), I'd
be quite happy with CBS giving up the U.S. Open altogether. Because
the men's final is typically at 4 p.m. on the second Sunday in
September, CBS shows no 4 p.m. games, which means that western teams
have to start on the road, or hosting an NFC team (which puts the game
on FOX) or in a primetime game (SD/KC on Monday). As a result, the
Broncos have started the season on the road for six consecutive years.
That might seem like a minor complaint if you're a tennis fan, but it
still irks. Surely the rating CBS gets for 4 p.m. NFL games has to be
higher than what they get for the U.S. Open.
