When the Golden Globes started, there were still variety shows on television--variety shows and sitcoms were put in the same category and it was called "musical or comedy." The networks ultimately make the call for awards season--Fox decided to call "Glee" a comedy series, just as ABC considers "Desperate Housewives" a comedy series and USA considered "Monk" comedy. -- TV or Not TV ....
