Actually for accuracy CNBC was known as Consumer News and Business Channel
they competed with the LA Based FNN until they went into bankruptcy and was
sold to NBCs then parent GE and was merged to be called CNBC/FNN

I would have figured that would be a point in favor for the old logo.
Companies love to put its brand on acquisitions. Look at CNBC whose
initials
coincidently contained NBC.
CNBC began life as FNN. Lawsuits occurred. CNBC was a last minute
choice that nobody wanted.
